Business Engagement

A range of public and business engagement activities, including consultations, exhibitions, charrettes and business forums, have been held in relation to the City Deal programme and projects.

Engagement with the business community has included supplier events to provide information about City Deal projects and contract opportunities.

Since May 2015, five sessions have taken place, led by six of the local authority areas. Each session included a marketplace where attendees could discuss projects and upcoming contracts with council procurement and project teams. A hand-out was also issued detailing projects and procurement values and timelines. The SME events were supported by the Supplier Development Programme (SDP), a partnership of local authorities with the Scottish Government which provides support and supplier training in all aspects of tendering. Events were promoted by the SDP and through the local press, the City Deal and partner council social media and websites.

The Glasgow City Region City Deal was also represented at the annual Meet the Buyer event in September 2017 at Hampden, attended by over 1,000 SMEs.

More generally, presentations on the City Deal and wider Glasgow City Region have been delivered by the PMO and other stakeholders to more than 2,000 individuals / businesses over the past three years.
