Glasgow City Region launches new online toolkit maximising health benefits on infrastructure projects
Glasgow City Region has today launched a new set of online resources which will help to maximise the health benefits of capital infrastructure.
The CHIA (Capital Investment Health Impact Assessment) is a set of online resources and a collaborative project space which will guide project teams through a tailored Health Impact Assessment.
The project was developed as part of the Health Foundation’s Economies for Healthier Lives programme, supported by £347,000 of funding. Its main aim is to use economic development to maximise population health.
A number of partners have contributed to the development of the resources, including the Health Foundation, Public Health Scotland, Glasgow Centre for Population Health and the Scottish Community Development Centre. The project was also supported by a Community Panel, who helped to shape the design and delivery of the toolkit, in addition to developing community participation resources
The CHIA will be used in the development and delivery of capital infrastructure projects across Glasgow City Region, including being piloted on a number of regional projects, including the Clyde Metro project, Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure, Investment Zone and also local authority led projects, including on North Lanarkshire’s East Airdrie Link Road, on East Renfrewshire’s Barrhead Master planning project and South Lanarkshire’s East Kilbride Town centre Masterplan, among others
