Inverclyde (RES Programme)

In February 2025, the Glasgow City Region Cabinet approved the inclusion of a new programme within the Regional Economic Strategy Action Plan focused on Inverclyde.

This decision followed a review of Inverclyde’s economic performance undertaken by the Glasgow City Region Intelligence Hub. The review identified a clear case for designating Inverclyde as a regional priority, highlighting that, unlike other local authority areas in the Region, Inverclyde was underperforming across a range of economic and healthy working indicators.

The programme is focused on:

  • Stimulating the Inverclyde economy, and
  • Creating opportunities for businesses and residents, to ensure Inverclyde is a place of choice to live, work and thrive.

Glasgow City Region and the Intelligence Hub are currently working with Inverclyde Council to identify next steps and agree priority actions for delivery.
