Part of Glasgow City Region Place, the Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) is a new long-term strategic land-use plan for the Region.
The Planning (Scotland) Act 2019 sets out a new Development Plan system for Scotland as part of a ‘plan led approach’ to planning. As part of this, the act introduced a new duty requiring local authorities to prepare a Regional Spatial Strategy.
The RSS will provide a place-based strategy that guides future development across the Region, and will enable planning authorities to work together with others to guide future long-term strategic development and use of land in the long-term public interest.
Work is currently underway to agree the scope for the Strategy.
