Glasgow City Region’s Smart and Connected Social Places (SCSP) 5G Innovation Fund has received a record number of applications from across the Region.

The incredible response demonstrates a growing appetite for innovation and the adoption of 5G technology across Glasgow City Region (GCR).

The Fund, which closed on 16 September 2024, received applications from a wide range of sectors, focusing on projects which aim to revolutionise Smart Social Housing, enhance Connected Care and Wellbeing, and harness Data Aggregation to improve services.  

The volume and quality of applications highlight the Region’s commitment to becoming a leader in digital transformation, with applications from nearly all of the Region’s eight partner council areas.

The Fund is offering grants from £10,000 to £100,000 to support projects focused on 5G and advanced wireless technology across GCR, with projects to start immediately and complete by 31 March 2025.

Next Steps

Details of the successful applicants will be published in the week commencing 30th September 2024.  These projects will play a crucial role in accelerating technological advancements and improving services for local communities.
