Place

The Glasgow City Region Place team has responsibility for a number of ambitious strategies across the Region and beyond, delivering impactful outcomes for the whole Region.

In December 2024, Clydeplan and Glasgow and Clyde Valley (now Glasgow City Region) Green Network staff were integrated into the Glasgow City Region Place team.

Work within the Place team is currently focused on four key strands:

  • The Regional Spatial Strategy: Working with member authorities and other partners to develop the scope of a new long-term strategic land use plan for the Region.
  • Clyde Mission: Development of a Strategic Masterplan for the River Clyde Corridor, as well as the provision of a £25 million Heat Decarbonisation Fund.
  • The GCR Green Network: A collection of five ambitious delivery programmes which play a critical role in the Region’s response to the climate and ecological crisis.
  • Supporting Activity: Providing support on a variety of strategically important topics including housing, employment, land, nature networks, green belt and minerals. GCR Place has also contributed to a number of Regional initiatives, including the Region’s Investment Zone, the Clyde Metro project, and the UK Government’s AI Growth Zones project.
