Harnessing Internet of Things (IoT) to improve tenant wellbeing.
Location: South Lanarkshire
The Archangel Joining the Dots project is transforming tenant engagement and service delivery through IoT-driven data integration. Funded by the £600,000 5G Glasgow City Region (GCR) Smart and Connected Social Places Innovation Fund, the initiative unifies data across social housing, health, and care systems to improve tenant wellbeing and enhance predictive interventions.
The Challenge
Fragmented data in social housing and care services creates inefficiencies, leading to missed opportunities for proactive interventions. Unintentional injuries, poor living conditions, and delayed responses to tenant needs increase the demand on local healthcare and social support services.
The Innovation
By deploying LoRa WAN sensors in 25 propoerties at Langvout Court Retirement Housing development and integrating real-time data into the Archangel platform, this project provides a unified view of tenants’ home environments. The system generates early alerts, enabling housing and care providers to intervene proactively and reduce emergency incidents.
- IoT-Powered Insights: Sensors track environmental conditions, ensuring timely interventions.
- Predictive Analytics: Data-driven alerts help reduce falls and health-related incidents.
- Tenant Engagement: Enhancing communication and well-being through real-time monitoring.
This project brings together experts from housing, technology, and care sectors:
- Archangel Cloud: SaaS provider unifying data for proactive decision-making.
- Bield Housing & Care: Facilitating tenant engagement and sensor deployment.
- University of West of Scotland (UWS): Providing evaluation and data analysis.
- Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI): Supporting scalability discussions.
Key results from the project will be shared at the Innovation Showcase Event on the 13 March 2025 in Glasgow. Find out more and register to attend.
