Deal was signed

The seven year milestone of the signing of the £1
billion City Deal agreement with the Scottish and UK governments –
one of the largest City Deals in the UK – presents an opportunity
to reflect on progress to date and on our future direction.
Our City Deal remains one of the most advanced in the UK, with all
projects underway and a number already completed. We are fast
becoming a City Region of Innovation – with our three emerging
innovation districts all underpinned by City Deal investment.
Further extensive funding and opportunity on the back of City Deal
investment is further evidence of our successful partnership.
We are the fastest growing city region in the UK, with huge
ambition and a proven track record in delivery. Our new Regional
Economic Strategy, being developed in partnership with the eight
partner councils and key government agencies, will shape our key
focus and priorities. It will also provide an evidence base for
investment decisions and for future funding bids to government -
central to a green recovery and a catalyst for economic
transformation for the Region, Scotland and the UK.

Construction underway
on Greenock's new Ocean Terminal and visitor centre
In early August, construction resumed on the new Greenock cruise
ship visitor centre, part of the £19.2 million City Deal
development which is set to increase visitor numbers to 150,000
passengers a year and provide a £26 million boost to the Scottish
economy.

Sighthill – a dear
green place
Extensive work at Sighthill, the UK’s largest regeneration project
outside of London, is now nearing conclusion, creating a new urban
neighbourhood ten minutes from the city centre with an outstanding
green and blue natural network at its heart – a step-change at
scale from its industrial past.
